meet ash - founder & senior strategist

  • With a BA in Nutrition & Food Science, from the University of Vermont, and nearly a decade of experience in food justice and human services nonprofits, Ash has dedicated their career to improving food access for underserved communities through a variety of innovative programs.

In Burlington, VT, Ash worked for the Good Food Truck program with Feeding Champlain Valley, an organization that “has worked for over 50 years to address hunger through innovative programs rooted in compassion, dignity, and inclusivity”. In this role with the program Ash prepared and served 350-400 meals per week to individuals in need. These meals were offered at no cost to vulnerable community members. This hands-on experience of working with rescued food and adapting to the ever-changing inventory highlights Ash’s ability to innovate and problem-solve while addressing food insecurity.

During the early days of the COVID pandemic, Ash helped launch Hole Food Rescue's Sprout Mobile program, who’s goal is “to ensure all children in Teton County have access to a free healthy lunch during the summer”. Ash managed and executed new program logistics, menus, operational systems. Hole Food Rescue is a nonprofit that works to connect rescued food with community members in need, addressing both food insecurity and food waste.

Most recently, Ash was the Associate Director for One22's food assistance program, significantly shaping its growth following the 2020 merger with Jackson Cupboard. One22 aims to provide resources and assistance to individuals and families facing hardship in the community. Ash was instrumental in developing and establishing sustainable systems for the newly combined food pantry. Ash built all the foundational systems that are now in place at the Jackson Cupboard program. From the ground up, Ash designed and implemented key processes and procedures that have streamlined pantry operations, improved inventory management, and enhanced the overall efficiency of food distribution.

Across these diverse programs, Ash has gained invaluable expertise in efficiency, organization, and strategic problem-solving. From building food assistance programs from the ground up to adapting in high-pressure situations, Ash has developed a skill set that extends far beyond food pantries. These skills—streamlining operations, designing effective systems, and maximizing impact with limited resources—are essential for any nonprofit project. No matter the challenge, Ash brings a thoughtful, solutions-oriented approach to help organizations run smoothly and sustainably.
